The WSF boys had a marathon meeting at a local pizzeria and let me tell you one thing: if you see Todd Sheene coming, I swear on all that is sacred, you better not put cubed ham on his pizza. I mean don't even think about it. And if he says the words "cubed ham" as in "I don't want the ham if it's cubed ham," then you better know what the word "cubed" means. That goes for me too actually. I've thrown my own cubed ham hissy when a restaurant in Frankfort pulled the switcheroo on me. Cubed, diced, whatever. Just know that nobody WSF affiliated is having it.
Sliced or shaved; that's it.
If you're slinging anything else, you're a nonsense pizzaman who should lose his pizza license. Now, apart from our preferences in pizza toppings, let me tell you what else was discussed at this meeting.
Serious Bidness
Basically, we aren't fooling around in 2014. We've committed ourselves to making a festival run this year and we're going to do it with our most ambitious project to date. No corners will be cut, no process will be rushed, and nothing will be made up as we go (unless we want it that way). We will bring in lots of help on this project. More attention will be placed on casting and production design.
This is not going to be the usual carousel of handing the camera back and forth while the three of us juggle lights, microphones, acting, and directing. Kirby Stafford will not be the only crew member on set. For the first time, we're going to put enough care and attention into every shot and scene to allow us to truly hit our potential for the first time. (Whatever that may be.) Granted, we will still have to battle time constraints. Until someone pays us to do this, there is nothing we can do about that. BUT, rest assured, we are going to do everything in our power to end up with a film that causes no regrets after the final edit is made.
Space Cops
Before shooting begins on that film, Episodes 4 and 5 of your favorite, lost-in-the-archives 80s sci-fi cop show will be complete. In fact, the Episode 4 edit will be done in a week's time (possibly two weeks if I add a new sequence that just popped into mind). After all this time, we're finally at the finish line thanks to renewed focus by yours truly.
Now, here is the decision that was made about the fate of Space Cops... We're going to make an all out blitz in the promotion of these two episodes. We're going to pay for ads on social media and we're going to beg you people to spread the word and watch them a thousand times. If Cops gets some traction, we make more episodes. If not, Episode 6 will be the series finale. We love Space Cops. I love making them. But if none of you care or get your jollies from watching them, then we need to waste our time on something else. In other words, get ready to share the fool out of some Space Cops if you want Don and Jonny to stick around.
